Instead of resolving differences with the short comings of the past year, I am writing the list of what will take Junk By Jenny into an exciting upcoming year. So, no resolutions for this junker; rather, the hopeful list is as follows [in no particular order]:
With the Chip & Joanna Gains’ The Magnolia Story sitting on my desk and Simon Sinek’s Find Your Why on order, I want to start the year inspired by others. I also will continue to read the many blogs out there as a subscriber. The irony in this list item is it’s newness. Up until maybe a year ago, I wasn’t a reader.
It is imperative I manage my upcycle jobs and my blog posts in a more systematic manner. I want to push out 3-4 large projects each month. I want my blog to have fresh stories 1-2 times per week, following through more on weekly upcycles and monthly give-aways and sneak peeks. I hope to ramp up my social media outreach with more scheduled and planned posts.
Scraps & Jewels
I love accessories, so it is high time I begin sharing them with my customers and readers. I want to utilize my vintage material scraps and hardware to make more pins, necklaces, jewelry, and rings. I plan to incorporate my letter stamps to personalize pieces. I hope to work on a few prototypes and then begin mass producing.
So, seriously….this is the year to really ramp this up. My brother has now up’d his requests from a Junk By Jenny polo to a hat. So, I best get crackin’. I know several locals who are print screening and embroidering. I hope to partner with them to create some amazing Junk By Jenny merch.
Also on the 2017 list is continued learning of new paint techniques. I hope to do more amazing things with my Wagner paint sprayer. I want to explore more waxing and finishing techniques.
…and I’m not talking ice fishing here. Rather, I want to work with our jig saw to rock out some awesome projects. My mini junk hunk (aka Ethan) and I have done some jig sawing and have loved it.
Annual Fall Sale
This October will mark the 4th Annual Fall Junk By Jenny Sale. The attendance and excitement has been incredible. I want to enhance the event with more festive, fall activities. I have so many fun ideas up my sleeve and 10 months to plan for the excitement.
With 2 of these action-packed, amazing events under belt, I know what it takes to pull off a success Junk Bonanza show as a vendor. For both shows, I have been ready with a packed trailer, even with time to spare. My classroom has been ready for my absence. And, I’ve always prepared my family for mom’s hiatus. However, I come home from the event absolutely wiped. I’ve actually coined it my “junking hangover.” I’m not sure how I will accomplish this list item, but this year, I want to be free of junking hangovers.
With some hard work and saving, I hope to buy my own enclosed junking trailer, complete with be’dazzled Junk By Jenny logos and all of the bling. Junk Hunk’s decoys were loaded, unloaded, and loaded again WAY TO MANY TIMES this year to continue to share trailers.
Don’t Quit Your Daydream
Based on last year’s list, I’ve lumped my dreamer list into one. I suspect will be on-going, but I best not quit my daydream. I still yearn for the beautiful old barn and a vintage truck. Someday I’ll cross these both off my wishlist. In the mean time, I can be patient.
I wish you a wonderful 2017. What is on your new year’s list?
