As August draws to a close, there are several things I should have been doing. The teacher in me knows I should have been working in my classroom. The junker in me should have been preparing my for annual fall sale. Instead, I have been Monkeying Around. I blame these three:
During our annual trip to the Watertown Zoo with my in-laws, this quirky family of three reminded me to slow down and take care of what’s important. My classroom will come together. Buses will arrive, students will fill the seats, and curriculum will be ready. The vintage pieces in my garage have been collecting dust for 30 years…what’s a few more days?
Instead, the month has been filled with visits to family and friends. We spent a fabulous 5 days on Watertown, South Dakota’s Lake Kampeska with family. The kids and I enjoyed our annual school shopping trip with Grandma. Recently, a silly “moms only” weekend with my besties was enjoyed, which included an ugly swimsuit contest (of which we vowed to not leak the photos anywhere). We are rounding out a week stay in the Twin Cities with dear friends, the Kellner’s and at “Vivian’s” house (my brother, sister-in-law, and lovely niece).
Thank you, August, for the fun and Monkeying Around.
PS – Your sunsets will be remembered forever.
