Most of this past school year, I made time each week for what I called, “Junkin’ Wednesdays.” In our town, Wednesday is the day each of the thrift shops host their “half off” sales. Not only do I love the deals and great picks, I am most pleased knowing funds are helping the community through the Salvation Army & Someplace Safe. I highly encourage you to check out your local thrift shops for the treasures they hold. Often, revenues are used to help a variety of causes. This summer, I’ve enjoyed having my little pickers with me for “Junkin’ Wednesdays.”
On a particular Wednesday a few weeks back, we scored some amazing finds. The folks at Someplace Safe were especially excited to see us doing a photo shoot in their parking lot. Although some of our finds are already tucked in storage (awaiting their debut at the 2016 Minneapolis Junk Bonanza), the bird cages have a fresh coat of paint on them. Stop by East Side Park this Saturday (July 11) to take a closer peep (I mean peek) at this upcycled bird cages, among many other cool vintage items. While there, don’t forget to check out everything from bouncy houses, Superior’s Rib Fest, live music, and more.
