…or maybe just a head scratch’er.
This past weekend, I took a leap of faith. Many times, I sat at my dining room table just like this, trying to wrap my head around the leap of faith I was about to take.
I am excited to take my website (which is really my story and my passion for junking) into a more industry-suitable project. I scratched my head (countless times) as I waded though the many resources, technical jargon, and options for the updated look I was going for. I was easily and intentionally distracted with every opportunity my family brought my way; whether it be coloring another Disney Princess, a Good Luck Charlie marathon, cheering on our little wrestler in a bustling gym, or nabbing some pool time at a a local hotel. Heck, I was even intrigued with the idea of doing laundry.
Why, you ask, are you avoiding such an exciting thing? To put it simply, it’s complicated. I could throw all of the technical jargon your way. As a business and computer teacher, I feel fortunate that I either know some of it or at least have been exposed to it. In a nutshell, I am moving my blog from a free theme on WordPress to a self-hosted site, still in the WordPress family. These important back end details will make the site function nicely. In addition, I have been working with a fabulous designer to build a lovely theme for my site. Luckily, the designer is able to remotely migrate my site, all from the comforts of her home office. I was thrilled to work with another small business owner via ETSY. This designer has alleviated many of my nerves as I work to make my website more user friendly and build a better experience for my readers. In the mean time, I will continue to beautify old junk, one cluncky piece at a time. Join me later in the week for the ribbon cutting event when www.junkbyjenny.com becomes a “big girl blog” as this leap of faith becomes a reality.
