Up until this point, my picking had been on a small scale, with garage sales or free junk on the curb. That changed the day Cindy (my mother-in-law) put me in touch with her friend Beth. I was lucky enough to land the motherload of 3 old houses & a large shed chuck full of generations of fabulous junk. The properties were full of especially unqiue finds, from the businesses of the owners’ past: a balloon & craft business, a pool hall, and a rental landlord. While in the 2-story shed, the current feline tenants would hiss or run with every piece I overturned. We even tried out a vintage pogo stick upon leaving. Jon was clerarly more skilled in this area than I was.
Our evening concluded with yet another score. The city of Madison was hosting their curb junk days. Needless to say, we left with a full trailer. This junker’s heart was happy and her crazed husband was speechless.
